Guide :Video Cameras : Handycam DCR-TRV19 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Mic troubles Using the built-in mic I have excellent results, but have decided to improve the audio for interviews and distant subjects and have purchased a tie-clip mic and a shotty for my Sony MiniDV handycam. While these extras are made by Sony, with the shotgun mic being dedicated for the camera with an "intelligent shoe", I have found the results quite alarming on playback... Sound ONLY on left channel. Sound quality tinny. and at about -12db Using headphones indicates good audio while recording with either extrernal mic.... Unplugging the mic to use the built-in... no problem. Checking the audio menus reveals no issues (sound centre balance, stereo etc)
